The kitchen is a sacred space and an important part of Maharaj-ji's ashram where food is consecrated by offering it to Maharaj-ji and Hanuman. The portion returned to the worshipper is prasad. For this reason, food is not tasted, even during preparation, until after it is offered. This is a vegetarian ashram. Non-vegetarian products are not permitted on the premises. Eggs are not used in prasad although dairy products are. Garlic and onions are also not used in the kitchen.
