| Our dear guru sister, Lillian North, left her body on Christmas day at 6:09 pm. She was an important player in the trans- mission of Be Here Now to us all and lit up our lives here in Taos in recent years with her loving, grateful recognition of the gift of life. You live in our hearts always, Lill. RAMRAM | |

| Sri Sat Gurudev Bhagavan Ki Jay! | Twelve
years later and I'm back in India. I love the nation and I'm ready to
lose my whole being in the streets, the smells, the sounds, the color,
the people, the bells, the temples, the rivers. Kaveri |

| Hanuman in the Age of Krishna | After the age of Rama came the age of Lord Krishna, and Hanuman gladly offered his services to Krishna who was, after all, none other than Rama himself since both are incarnations of Lord Vishnu. Parvati Markus |
| From the Diary: Kainchi Ashram, Autumn, 1971 | It's
a sunny autumn morning at Kainchi Ashram. The evergreen clad hillside
drops down steep to the river of whitewater that flows in miniature rivulets.
Bells ring as local village people bow to the deities in simple reverence.
Children run carefree in the temple courtyard. Sita Sharan |
| Sita Ram | On my recent visit in India, when I would meet an old Indian devotee of Maharaj-ji I would petition them to tell me a story. This is one of them. This young Indian gentleman, a doctor, was having a very difficult life. Trying to make ends meet and provide a proper life for his family and all the other pressures of a young man and much mental anguish, prompted him to seek out this Neem Karoli Baba. Sruti Ram |
| New Hanuman Chaleesa CD at last! | A
recent recording of the Hanuman Chaleesa is revealing its own extraordinary
and ordinary nature to us each day. It descended from the sky and landed
in a cozy little recording studio in Fairfax, California in the spring
of 2000. It was done within the framework of a lila that was bigger than
any one of us involved. A certain power inside this precious invocation
dictates its own time and its own way. With this awareness, we went about
attempting to make a new western Hanuman Chaleesa recording. Geoffrey Gordon |
| Ram Dass' Visit | Maharaj-ji
told many stories about Samarth Guru Ramdas, the 17th century saint from
central India. Maharaj-ji would then point to Ram Dass and say, "You
are Samarth Guru Ramdas." Samarth Guru Ramdas was the guru of Shivaji, the chieftain who led the formidable Maratha resistance against the iconoclastic tyrant, Aurangazeb. Samarth Guru Ramdas popularized forms of devotional worship by removing the dependency upon elaborate brahmanical rituals. His teachings inspired warriors to invoke the invincible strength of Hanuman. Samarth Guru Ramdas' influence established Hanuman worship as a part of mainstream culture throughout India.
