PLANNING
COMMITTEE Ever since Hanuman-ji first came to Taos, devotees have been
concerned that we have no permanent home for Him, no solid resting-place
for the Son of the Wind.
It seems that the time has come again to design Hanuman-ji's mandir
and, further, to make a conscious, comprehensive plan for the
design and use of Maharaj-ji's ashram in America. To this end,
the Planning Committee, whose members are Dwarka, Satrupa, Hanuman
Das, Mira, Gillian, Conrad and Connie, has been meeting weekly
since October. The committee has chosen to work by full consensus
in an attempt to come to "one mind" over complex issues,
which have been divisive in the past. Although this committee
may not literally design the temple, its mandate from the Board
of Directors is to plan for the temple's placement. This may include
a larger kirtan area, guest and residential space, a dining area,
bath-house, children's space and puja dukan. Included in the proposal
will be plans for access and parking, wetlands water treatment,
solar use and permaculture.
The committee is attempting to understand the ashram on a deep
level in order to formulate plans which express the teachings
of Sri Maharaj. It is making every effort to incorporate past
visions and to solicit input from interested devotees.
At the present time, the committee is working on the master plan
with the intention of having a final draft ready for satsang and
Board perusal and approval, by Bhandara 2000.
By His grace, His plan will soon become manifest.
