Dear Friends,
I recently returned from another trip to the old country, where
I spent time in Allahabad visiting Dada Mukerjee's family at 4
Church Lane. Although our Dada is no longer there in his body,
it is still the wonderful "red house" that many of us
have been visiting for almost thirty years. Maharaj-ji is as present
as ever and the feeling in the house is so unchanged that it would
be no great surprise if either he or Dada were to be seen in the
"office" or on the verandah. Kamala Didi and Ashoka
Didi receive devotees daily, prasad is distributed, and stories
of Maharajji continue to be told.
Last year Didi and other devotees and friends collected remembrances
of Dada and Maharaj-ji. These were published in a small booklet
called Upasana (Worship), with a subtitle of "The Red House."
Most of the articles were in Hindi, other than a few contributions
from Western devotees. These articles were generally reflections
on Dada's devotion to Maharaj-ji, especially as it manifested
in the years in which he created daily flower arrangements on
Maharaj-ji's tucket. Didi herself wrote an introduction in which
she presented her own thoughts and observations of the long relationship
of Dada and his Baba, and her part in painting watercolors of
the arrangements each day as a form of devotion.
Many of the Hindi articles have been translated into English with
the idea of publishing a second edition of Upasana this year.
Didi has asked for submissions from the Western satsang. A short
remembrance, perhaps of a page or two, from any of you who met
Dada either here or in India would be most welcome. In particular,
if you visited Allahabad during the time the flower arrangements
were being done, she would like your impressions of them and of
your visit.
Please send your submissions to Hanuman das here at the Taos ashram
as soon as possible so they can be forwarded to India. Didi hopes
to have the new booklet ready to issue on Guru Purnima in mid-July.
By His Grace,
Anjani
