CARETAKERS CORNER

In the thirteen years since I first recognized that Maharaj-ji is steering my life as He chooses, He has never amazed me more than when He set me down as office manager here at His ashram last spring. I have the great pleasure of going to work every day for Him in His office, and I am getting to know, through my correspondence with you, just how many of us there are who are His devotees. I've mailed His video to people all over the world who have ordered from our website. People are having His darshan from photos at other locations on the Internet and are contacting us, wanting to connect even more deeply with Him. New Yorkers are finding Him through Krishna Das' kirtan there and are requesting videos, pictures, pendants and books.

The new photos in our Calendar 2000 are capturing hearts. One purchaser wrote that she was so moved she wasn't able to get past the cover picture. Days after its arrival, the calendar still lay on her dining room table just as she had placed it when she opened it, like a radiant shrine.
Those of you who come into our Puja Dukan never cease to delight and amaze me.
Recently three Indian women came in. One asked me, "Do you know that Hanuman went to Lanka and fought there with Shri Ram against Ravana?"
"Yes," I said.
"And Ram's brother, Lakshman, was killed on the battlefield, do you know?"
"Yes."
"And a doctor was sent for who told Hanuman a special herb was needed to revive Lakshman.?"
"Oh, yes," I continued to assure her I knew the story.
"And Hanuman had to go to the mountain to find this herb. We are told He came here to your mountain to get the herb and took your mountain back to Lanka. Is this so?"

LOUD AND CLEAR

His call came to me last August while I was care-taking a retreat center in the Russian River Valley. All my energy and attention, then focused on moving to Maui to live and start a massage practice, suddenly shifted to New Mexico. Fortunately, I heeded the call without question and returned to northern New Mexico after an absence of almost 20 years. By Maharaj-ji's grace, I have been given the opportunity to serve as a caretaker here at His ashram. I feel blessed to be back. . . it's as if I never left. RAMRAM... Terrell Pulliam

THE GIFT OF SEVA

Indeed, it is Maharaj-ji's grace to be here at the Taos ashram serving Him in His limitless forms. During the year I spent in India, He kept pulling me in closer. While in Kainchi and Vrindavan ashrams, I was guided on how to serve Him better through the examples of His great devotees.
Sri Siddhi Mataji taught me much about seva (selfless service). I watched as she kept things immaculate, as if He were to walk in at any moment. I would see how her energy got so focused around the festivals. She became full of this lion strength, as if she were riding on the wind, as the name of Ram permeated everything.
I am enjoying working with those who are here and am excited to see how the summer will unfold. I encourage you to come and do seva with us. It is truly an honor to serve Him.
