Report from the Board of Directors

The Board of Directors held its annual meeting on April 17th -18th. David Ternlund and Dwarka were re-elected to serve another term, and we elected four new members - Devaki Martin, Tom Lesser, Krishna Priya, and Michael McGowan. We look forward to your fresh ideas and input. Uma chose not to stand for re-election, although she remains an active committee member in various areas. The board thanks her for her valuable time and efforts. Also, at the end of the meeting, Dwarka decided to resign from the board. His many years of devoted and diligent service are greatly appreciated and the board will miss him.Jai Guru Dev! Officers were elected as follows: Carolyn Shapiro as President, David Ternlund as Vice-President and Treasurer, and Mira remained as Secretary.

The Board discussed various needs of the ashram, such as a feeding tent for Bhandara, a drip system for the gardens and greenhouses, and an office computer upgrade. Michael McGowan made an excellent budget presentation; he will be working closely with David on designing a more streamlined financial set-up. We also implemented a correspondence time-line for newsletters, calendars and fund raising mailings.

A preliminary agenda for the Bhandara Board meeting will be drawn up on July 10th. Please contact Carolyn (cjsgrace@yahoo.com) before that date if you have issues that you would like to see on the Board agenda. Also, come to the Bhandara General Meeting on Friday, September 8th to give the Board your ideas and input. Ram Ram.
